The first slash fanfic is a story about Vito. He begins his bizarre relationship with a gay classmate named Kahel. The two become close friends because of projects and pair work. Similar to the other stories, they worry about their future as a couple. The fanfic explores more about having a strong bond in their relationship, fearing judgment in school, home, and community.

Life in Orange

Macho Dancer

Paul, left by his American client and partner, leaves his hometown in search of opportunities in Manila. He is accustomed to a vast world of police corruption, sexual slavery, drug trafficking, and prostitution bars. This work is one of Lino Brocka’s masterpieces rewritten into slash form. Pol begins to reflect on his everyday struggle as a male prostitute and stripper. He plans his way out, carrying his savings as he returns to the province to begin a new life.

Cairo and Gavriel’s queer love story was sparked by distance during a pandemic marked by life’s twists and uncontrollable circumstances. After the events of the film, they decided to go on a beach trip. The vacation allows them to reflect on their future in a heteronormative society.

Kites in the Night

A chapter of the original story is taken from the book. Tony’s story, a middle-aged man, comes home from overseas work. He realises he is a stranger to the new changes around his hometown.

Why Read in Dual Dialogue Format

The unique format gives the characters a chance to have an argument. Clashing ideas gives the readers a chance to pause so they can think and reflect.

They realize how gays find it hard to “fit in” into society as they are always challenged by how society perceives them. The thought of being judged and mistreated makes them at conflict with themselves.

Character 1 shows no care about the status quo and prefers to live freely, while character 2 is conscious and moves conservatively. Their identities give character, substance, and different perspectives on being gay and open in society.
